As of December 2008, there is an estimated 271,000,000 cellular phones in use in the United States.
That number will increase every year and it constitutes a huge market for mobile marketers like you. In
the 4th quarter of 2007, about 58 million users said that they encountered advertising on their
cellphones.
Knowing the demographics of the population characteristics of your target audience will help you find
out what demographic group will most likely respond to your mobile marketing campaigns. Getting the
right demographic data will help you to get the market segment that will have similar preferences for
the product or service that your business will offer.
Using demographics will help you determine the specific race or ethnic group, age, gender, income
bracket, educational attainment, employment, and geography that will opt in to receive your mobile
marketing campaigns and advertisements.
